WHAT IS GET R.E.A.L.?

Relationships Encouraging Authenticity & Love. Get R.E.A.L. is a program that will encourage you to search within yourself, and ask you to take a look at your life at this present moment. Get R.E.A.L. will give you opportunities to look at your role as a mother, your essence as a woman, and your life choices. The support group is not therapy. It offers you individual and group exercises, tools, and personal time to help you clarify what blocks/barriers are holding you bavk, or keeping you stuck

WHY GET R.E.A.L.

Get R.E.A.L. was created by moms for moms. One woman had faced the challenges and heartaches of parenting a teenage son in addiction, and the other was a daughter caught in chaos. Get Real facilitators are here to support you in your greatness and all of your potential along with your fears, doubts, and disappointments. We strive to create a space where acceptance, grace and love abound.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO WALK THIS PATH ALONE

Parenting a son or daughter with addictions and/or in rebellion can be a frustrating, life draining experience. We honor the courage it takes to step forward, out of the insanity, toward personal growth and healing. The only thing we ask is that you come with an openness to experience yourself, and as you feel lead, to share from your heart.

A LETTER FROM LISA DEHNKE

Hello,

If you are reading this letter chances are you have a son or daughter struggling with rebellion and/or abusing drugs and alcohol. If so, welcome. It is good to know you are searching.

I am not here to tell you that Get R.E.A.L. is the miracle program that will fix your child and heal your relationships. You see, I don't believe your child is broken. Hurt, confused, frustrated, and angry... most likely yes. Get R.E.A.L. is a program based on the belief that the healing of all relationships begins within. Amazing things happen when courageous moms are willing to first look within themselves and then open to their children with eyes of acceptance, compassion, and grace. It takes inner strength and clear boundaries to be able to walk along side of a rebellious teen. And we NEED to walk beside them, even if seemingly invisible.

I am a mom who has walked and continues to journey along side of a son whose drug and alcohol abuse left a trail of chaos and destruction. I have two other teenage sons that have been introduced to drugs, alcohol, and porn. I can't protect my sons from all of the dangers in this world, but I can love and trust myself enough to encourage them and be available should they ever decide to come to me for rest and assurance that they are loved. I don't have their answers, they do. If they ASK me for help and guidance I will be there. Meanwhile I will live my truth. By standing strong in my own convictions, being honest with myself and others, and honoring my sons as they search for and discover their truths, I have found the courage to slowly and gently release them from my grasp. I can provide an umbrella of protection for my kids as they continue to grow and mature, it's their choice whether to stay under or wander out into the rain.

Get R.E.A.L. is a safe place where you can come and join other moms on their journeys of healing, growth, and empowerment. You do not have to walk alone. I hope you consider joining us.

Peace,
Lisa
